CHB and Hollow Blocks Price in the Philippines (2026) — Per Piece

Short answer: 4-inch (100mm) CHB costs roughly ₱13–15 per piece factory-direct/bulk, or ₱18–24 per piece at a hardware store. 6-inch (150mm) CHB runs roughly ₱19–23 per piece factory-direct/bulk, or ₱22–30 per piece at a hardware store. The two price bands aren't a typo or a conflicting source — they're two different buying channels, and which one applies to you depends entirely on how many pieces you're buying and how you're getting them to site.

Why There Are Two Different Prices for the Same Block

Every CHB price list you'll find quotes one of two channels, and mixing them up is the single most common reason two "2026 CHB price" sources look like they disagree:

🏭

Factory-Direct / Bulk

Buying straight from a CHB maker or batching plant, typically in lots of 500 pieces or more, with your own pickup or freight arranged. This is the standard route for contractors on house, apartment, or commercial builds where total block count runs into the thousands — it's cheaper per piece, but you need a truck, a delivery lead time, and usually a minimum order.

🏬

Hardware Store / Retail

Buying from a hardware store or building supply shop — Wilcon, Citihardware, or a local supplier — in whatever quantity you need, same day, no minimum order. You pay for that convenience: retail markup and handling typically add ₱4–8 per piece over factory-direct pricing.

For a full house or apartment build, factory-direct is almost always worth the lead time. For a small repair, a garden wall, or topping up a delivery that came up short, hardware retail is the practical choice.

CHB Price by Size — 2026

SizeCommon useFactory-direct / bulkHardware retail
4" (100mm)Interior partitions, light exterior walls, fences under 1.2m₱13–15/pc₱18–24/pc
6" (150mm)Load-bearing exterior walls, perimeter fences, commercial₱19–23/pc₱22–30/pc

Both sizes share the same 400mm × 200mm face dimensions per BPS 06:2020 (the Philippine standard for hollow load-bearing concrete masonry units) — only the thickness differs. See our CHB vs AAC blocks comparison if you're deciding between block types rather than just sizes.

Enter your wall area and pick a size and buying channel for an indicative material cost.

Gross wall area — deduct door/window openings for a tighter number
Factory-direct needs bulk quantity + your own delivery
Indicative material cost only — excludes mortar (cement, sand), labor, delivery fee, and any RC columns/tie beams a load-bearing wall needs. For a full material + labor takeoff, use the CHB Quantity Estimator or contact AEDO.

Buying Guide — What Actually Affects Quality

CHB is a commodity, but not an interchangeable one — quality varies a lot between makers, and a cheaper piece that's undersized or under-cured costs more later in cracked plaster and uneven walls. Philippine CHB is governed by BPS 06:2020 (Hollow Load-Bearing Concrete Masonry Units), which sets minimum compressive strength at 5.17 MPa average / 4.48 MPa individual for Grade A block.

📏

Consistent Size

Blocks from the same batch should be uniform in size with square, even edges. Noticeably tapered or warped blocks mean uneven mortar joints and a wall that's harder to keep plumb.

🔔

The Sound Test

Tap a block with a trowel or another block. A well-cured, properly compacted CHB gives a clear, slightly hollow ring. A dull, dead thud usually means it's under-cured or under-compacted.

Curing Age

CHB needs at least 14–21 days of curing before it reaches usable strength. Freshly-made blocks (still grey-wet looking, or bought "rush order" from a small local maker) are the single most common quality complaint on Philippine sites — always ask the supplier for the batch/pour date.

🕳️

Surface Defects

Reject blocks with visible honeycombing (exposed aggregate/voids on the face), hairline cracks, or edges that crumble when scraped with a fingernail — all signs of a poor mix or insufficient compaction at the plant.

Delivery & Quality Inspection Checklist

Use this before signing off on a CHB delivery — a five-minute check on a sample of the load catches most bad batches before they're built into a wall.

  • Piece count matches the delivery receipt/PO — recount if it's a large load, don't just trust the driver's tally.
  • Size is correct for what was ordered (4" vs 6") — measure a few pieces, don't assume by eye.
  • Batch/pour date is at least 14 days old — ask the supplier directly if it isn't marked or stated.
  • Sample block passes the sound test (clear ring, not a dull thud).
  • No visible cracks, chipped corners beyond minor handling damage, or honeycombing on a random sample of 10–20 pieces.
  • Edges are square and consistent — stack a few flat and check they sit level without excessive rocking.
  • Blocks are dry-stacked off bare ground on pallets or boards, not sitting in mud or standing water.
  • Price on the delivery invoice matches what was quoted — confirm before the driver leaves, not after.
A Note on These Figures

These per-piece prices are AEDO's own field pricing, cross-checked against our published CHB Quantity Estimator and CHB vs AAC comparison figures — the ranges you see across those two posts are the factory-direct and hardware-retail bands explained above, not conflicting numbers. Actual price varies by region, freight distance from the plant, and current cement/aggregate cost. Always confirm current pricing with your supplier before finalizing a budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a CHB cost per piece in the Philippines?

4-inch runs ₱13–15 factory-direct/bulk or ₱18–24 at a hardware store; 6-inch runs ₱19–23 factory-direct/bulk or ₱22–30 at a hardware store.

Why are hollow blocks cheaper factory-direct?

You skip the hardware store's markup and handling by buying in bulk straight from the maker or plant — the standard route for contractors on larger builds.

How many CHB pieces per square meter?

13 pieces per square meter is the standard purchasing quantity (12.5 theoretical plus about 5% waste) for 400×200mm CHB.

How do I check hollow block quality before accepting delivery?

Check for BPS 06:2020 compliance: consistent size, a clear (not dull) sound when tapped, at least 14–21 days curing age, and no visible cracks or honeycombing.
